Atlantic City Hotel Search Leads To Handgun, Cocaine, $7,500 Cash

A search of a hotel room in Atlantic City led to an arrest and recovery of drugs and a handgun, authorities said.

On Tuesday, Aug. 16, detectives of the Special Investigations Section, along with members of the Atlantic City Police Department’s SWAT Team, made a warranted search on the room in the firrt block of Convention Boulevard. 

Prior to the execution of the search warrant, detectives located the target individual, Joaquin DeJesus, arriving in his vehicle at which point he was detained and found in possession of seven grams of suspected cocaine packaged for distribution and $1,505 in cash,, police said.

A subsequent search of his hotel room led to the discovery of a 9mm handgun along with an additional 4.5 grams of suspected cocaine and approximately $6,000 cash, police said. The funds, totaling $7,505, are believed to be proceeds from illegal narcotics sales and were seized by detectives, police said.

DeJesus, 52, of Atlantic City, was charged with money laundering and various drug and weapons offenses, police said.

DeJesus was being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
